okay, I admit it, I liked it.

During some laundry folding time yesterday here at the Ebert Estate, I started watching the new version of Pride and Prejudice. Later that night after the kids went to bed, I finished it. As a loyal fan of the A&E/BBC version of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, I was skeptical of this new version, but decided to try it since Rebecca wrote rave reviews of it. It was a well done movie – I liked the cinematography and some of the casting. But alas, I am still partial to the older version, and not just because of my girlish crush on Mr. Darcy. (Yes, Josh is aware of this) I just couldn’t quite get into Keira Knightley as Lizzy. I’m not sure if that is because I’m biased or I just couldn’t stand Keira’s pout any longer, but I liked Jennifer Ehle’s portrayal of Lizzy better. Alas, the new movie satisfied my female need for a romantic adventure since I’m away from my real-life Mr. Darcy. =)Many thanks to Jane Austen.

  1. What? Rachel who likes my favorite movie? You Rock! It’s about time someone forces you to see it! I’m glad you liked it but also that you still like your A&E version. I need to find that-I would love to see it!
